Recognition of School Diplomas
Have you studied or are you still studying in Primary or Secondary schools in South Africa and need to certify your South African official academic documents to apply to a Portuguese University?
If so, these are the steps to follow to certify your documents:
First Step
– Obtain the National Senior Certificate (NSC);
Second Step
– Authenticate the National Senior Certificate (NSC) with the apostille at DIRCO;
Third Step
Contact the Head of the Education Department, from Camões, I.P., Dr. Carlos Gomes da Silva, by WhatsApping him to the phone number 079 880 2185, to schedule the courier shipping of the documents (a copy of the documents must be shipped with the original), or, in case you live near Pretoria and choose to have your documents certified in person, you may schedule to be received in person, on Tuesdays, from 10:30 to 12:30. Either to ship your documents or to have your documents certified in person, you may use the following address:

Fourth Step
Finally, you must request equivalence to Grade 12 through the General Directorate of Education. If you reside in Portugal, you can request equivalence at public basic and secondary education establishments or at private and cooperative education establishments, endowed with pedagogical autonomy for the level of education at which equivalence is requested. If you are a non-resident citizen in Portugal, you should send your request to the Directorate-General for Education (DGE) (Av. 24 de Julho, n.º 140 1399-025 Lisboa), via post (CTT), and your request should be instructed as per the terms of Article 7 of Decree-Law no. 227/2005, of 28/12. The following application must be submitted along with your process (official model – Annex I, n.º 227/2005, of 28/12, amended by the Declaration of Rectification n.º 9/2006, of 6/02).
